The FNCV Environment Fund has the following purposes:
-
To support and finance environmental research, in
particular research into the biodiversity of Victoria.
-
To support and finance dissemination of information
on the natural environment by any legitimate means, including public
lectures, seminars, field trips, courses and publications.
-
To support and finance practical projects aimed at
preserving and enhancing the biodiversity of Victoria.
The Committee calls for applications for the next round
of funding from the FNCV Environment Fund.
Requests for projects between $200 and $1000 will be considered.

The FNCV has moved to a new Web address with a new domain
name. We are now located at www.fncv.org.au.

FNCV Forums
Forums have been made available for members to discuss
topics of interest to the club. These range from organising car
pooling for attending FNCV events to discussions around any of the
special interest groups.

To celebrate Biodiversity Month, Ian Mansergh (DSE) will
be repeating the lecture "200 years of Victoria's natural
capital: from depletion to replenishment", that he
gave at the 125th Anniversary History Symposium. Not to be missed!

June 2005 - New Group!
At last months FNCV Council meeting,
a motion was passed to allow the formation of a new Special Interest Group
(SIG). If like many of us you have a keener than average interest in the
flying mammals of Victoria, then watch out for activities of the FNCV
Bat Group. We have already set up a Yahoo chat group called Friends
of Bats Victoria. This was an initiative of FNCV and the Australasian
Bat Society (ABS) and we now intend to operate as a SIG with expert support
and guidance of the Australasian Bat Society.. So if you'd like to be
a part of something new and very exciting then follow the links below.

May 2005 - Leaves from our History
This year is our 125th
Anniversary. To celebrate this momentous occasion, FNCV
is hosting a two-day symposium covering all things field
nat. Nearly twenty speakers will be making presentations,
discussing topics which range from an overview of
the clubs history to the role of women in the
FNCV. This history symposium will be held on the
weekend of the 28th and 29th May
2005 in the Mueller Hall at the Royal Botanic Gardens,
South Yarra.
Unfiortunately
the formal dinner scheduled for the Saturday evening has
been cancelled (refunds forthcoming to those who have
prepaid). Instead nibbles and drinks will be enjoyed as
we are entertained by by the Friends of Woodlands
Historic Park. The acting group will perform "A
Signal Service", a three part playlet.
20th
March 2005 - Open Day -On Sunday 20th March, the FNCV
will be opening its doors to the public and inviting
everyone to come and see what we are about! There will be
stalls, displays, showbags and door prizes. Refreshments
will be available all day. Slide shows and other
presentations will be running every half hour in the
library, and there will be plenty of things for the kids
to do too! Everyone is welcome! Whether you are a
long time or a brand new member, or have just always
wondered a Field Naturalist does, come along and we
guarantee you'll enjoy yourself!
